Our Story

In the Beginning...

The year was 2011 when God started preparing our hearts . We knew we were to return to Washington. We put a map of Washington State on the wall, highlighted the towns where we knew pastors and asked “who and where do you want us to help?” After a bit, we noticed two areas on the map, and one is Wenatchee Washington. During prayer, I asked God what that was to look like…God asked me to plant a church in Wenatchee, and I said NO….and I felt Him laugh. This went on 3 or 4 times when I finally said OK, “But I have reasons” and again He chuckled at me, then I heard Him say “what reason’s?” I reminded Him that He said “come, let us REASON together” and I had reasons. I proceeded to list my reasons and again He chuckled. So we prepared for a move and plant in an area where we knew nobody, Wenatchee Washington…A week before we were to leave Michigan, my brother calls and asks “what are we doing?” I told him that I was finalizing things at work and we were finishing packing. He said no, “what are we doing?” I started telling him again and he interrupted and said, ”you don’t understand, God woke me up and told me that God told me that I was to help you in what God had told us to do, so, what are we doing?” I told him we are to be ministering in Washington and told him to pray and get involved more in his church and learn. He hangs up..calls back and asked me if “x marks the spot” means anything to me, I said no, and he said that we were to do this ministry where that X is and that he would send me a map showing me this spot, when I saw it, I couldn’t get back to him fast enough, it was Wenatchee. So I told Him what God had shared with us…Through Bible studies, Prayer meetings, ministry times, we pre-launched The Rivers Family Church…..and the Journey continues.

Where we are headed...

For some time now, Jean and I have known we were called to something far greater than ourselves. As we have continued to seek the heart of our Father we began to see that His call on our life was to pastor a church. As we now see this dream becoming reality, we are filled with excitement and anticipation to begin this God-inspired journey. This is not going to be an easy step to take but we are confident that we are doing what God has called us to do and we are excited to see God fulfill His purpose in us.
